About Micaela
Whatever your birth choices and setting, my goal is simple: I want you to feel informed, strong, and loved.
I’m a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and midwifery student currently completing my clinical rotations with a home-birth practice here in Tacoma, Washington. I’m deeply committed to providing person centered, holistic support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. I bring together evidence based care with the cultural, emotional, and spiritual considerations that make every family’s experience unique.
My path into birth work began in the postpartum ward at St. Joseph Medical Center and through volunteering in labor and delivery at Tacoma General Hospital. Those experiences opened my eyes to how deeply people can be affected by the way they are treated during such a vulnerable and transformative time. I saw how meaningful compassionate support can be, and how much it can matter when that support is missing.
I knew I wanted to be the kind of presence I had seen people need. Someone who shows up fully, listens without judgment, holds space for whatever unfolds, and never treats birth as something routine. My mother’s own birth experiences further deepened this understanding. Through her stories, I came to appreciate how profoundly birth can shape a person’s life, and how experiences of fear, trauma, or feeling unheard can stay with someone long after their baby is born, especially when they do not have a strong support system around them.
I believe every birthing person deserves to understand their options, have their voice heard, and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their own care. My role is not to tell someone what their birth should look like, but to provide steady, compassionate support as they navigate their own path. I feel incredibly fortunate to do work that asks me to continually learn, listen, and grow, and to walk alongside families during some of the most significant moments of their lives.
I received my birth and postpartum doula certification in 2021 and my childbirth educator certification in 2023 through the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations. I am also certified in neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and basic life support (BLS). I’m an active member of the Midwives Association of Washington State (MAWS), the National Organization for Women (NOW), the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives (NACPM), and DONA International.
Outside of birth work, you’ll usually find me with a good book and a cup of tea, taking an evening stroll through the neighborhood, or enjoying local events with good company.
